How to experience Formentera your way

Boating in Ibiza. We take a look at 3 different ways you might want to experience our beautiful neighbouring island of Formentera!
Ses Illetes Formentera

You’re a party group

Amongst a busy itinerary of beach clubs and nightlife in Ibiza, it’s important to remember that boat days are always the best days, that’s why a boat trip to Formentera is a must!

As the max capacity for yachts in Ibiza is 12 passengers, we suggest that larger party groups always take 2 or more boats in tandem to ensure no one is left behind. Take bets on who will win the race to Formentera and get some great photo opportunities along the way!

To get the essential Formentera experience you’ll want to head straight for Ses Illetes. This stunning beach with the clearest of blue waters is regarded as one of the best in the world. Once you have arrived in style, you can take the opportunity to jump in the water to cool off, crank up the music and get the drinks flowing.

To break up the day and have lunch, Beso Beach will be your best option. The popular beach shack is well renowned for being one of the liveliest spots in the Balearics. Enjoy their delicious paellas before moving on to their famous mojitos and dancing the afternoon away with the resident DJ.

The end of the day is best spent enjoying the golden hour at sea where the sun begins to set and the sea glistens. A final opportunity to bask in the sunlight and swim in the sea before cruising back to Ibiza.

For those not ready to finish the party, drop off at one of the beach clubs in Ibiza like Blue Marlin is always an option!

Beso Beach Formentera

You’re a family

No family holiday in Ibiza is complete without a boating experience and with Formentera’s easy accessibility and calm and safe waters, a trip to the neighbouring island is a no brainer. Be prepared to experience mind blowing natural beauty and create lasting memories with your loved ones!

En route to Formentera, a pit stop at the tiny island of Espalmador is a must. This unspoilt and uninhabited island is as picturesque as it comes. Here you have the perfect opportunity to settle in and take a swim and snorkel in the beautiful clear water or if you have a paddleboard onboard, venture to the sandy shores!

If you’re looking to dine in one of Formentera’s most well known restaurants, then you should look no further than Juan y Andrea in Ses Illetes. With stunning panoramic sea views, laid back feet in the sand dining and an abundance of fresh local fish dishes, it’s no surprise why this restaurant has reached such an iconic status.

Alternatively, if you prefer a more understated lunch experience away from the crowds and a varied cuisine suitable for the whole family, then Chezz Gerdi in Es Pujols is our top pick for you. Expect friendly service, fun laid back vibes and a delicious selection of Italian and Mediterranean dishes.

After lunching our top suggestion is to ask your captain to take you to the nearest private cove, out of sight from any other boats, where you can enjoy a maximum chill time and the sea to yourself!

As the sun sets and you make your way back to Ibiza at the end of the day, take one last dip at the quiet cove of Cala Pluma near Salinas Beach which is conveniently located enroute back to port!

Watersports Formentera

You’re a thrill seeker

If you are seeking an adrenaline rush during your holiday in Ibiza and good fun at sea, you won’t do much better than opting for a trip over to Formentera and combining it with selection of some of the best water sport activities around!

The water in Formentera is calm and crystal clear making it one of the most rewarding locations from where to spend the day in the water. There are limitations to what you can do at the more popular and congested beaches such as Ses Illetes, that’s why you’ll want to head over to the beautiful Cala Saona which offers the space and freedom you require.

Most boats in Ibiza will come with snorkel equipment and often complimentary toys such as paddle boards and the famous Seabob. To enjoy such activities as wakeboarding and waterskiing a small rib is required to complete the activity.

If you fancy trying something more impressive, jet skis, jetsurf and a flyboarding experience can all be arranged for the day with professional private instructor and all the equipment you need.

As you’ll want to maximise your time on the boat, arranging onboard catering is the best option with our private chefs able to create custom picnics for your group so you don’t have to worry!
